IT'S NOT ONLY FREE, IT'S GOOD........
A customer came to my shop and asked "Ada tak katrij sekian sekian? (mentioned a printer cartridge)". Then, I looked at the hanging cartridge boxes, and searched for the mentioned cartridge. (For your information, printer cartridge has the same fate as the software and its compatriots, which has two version, original and "not so original").
I asked the customer back "Nak yang mana satu, original ke local?". (Normally, the "not so original" is "not so expensive" compared to the original one). "Yang mana lagi murah? Yang bukan ori ye? Ha, boleh la..." (Look, Malaysians really love cheap thing. We are not necessarily don't have money, but somehow, that how we are born and supposed to be)
Then, the customer asked me again, "Macam mana kalau rosak? Ada warranty ke?" (Wait a minute. Do you think that such cheap product will have warranty? Try to ask Petaling Street hawker.) "Tak ada la. Kalau abang/kakak guna saje, terus tak boleh pakai, bolehla pulangkan. Selain tu tak boleh la"I replied. For another minutes, his/her face looked a little bit doubt. (They afraid of the probability for their bought stuff will damage in seconds. That's the price of buying a "RM10 or RM20 cheaper" products. For me, better to buy the original one, for the difference of their price are not so far. But for Malaysians, saving a penny is as important as saving the Earth.)
I don't mean that we have to buy expensive products all the time. Just think wisely. It's up to you. The thing that matter is, if the original product has only slightly more expensive than the copied one, just buy the original. Most of cheap things do not compromise with the quality. But if the original is too expensive, that can be brought into consideration. As I said earlier, think wisely, simply because we have brain and mind.
That's the story of a Malaysian, dreaming of buying a product that not only cheap, but also good. There is possibility for such fantasy come to life, but when? That's the question.
