SPORTS DISASTER

Sports has been one of ways of life for Malaysians, and no wonder our country has achieved so many success sports. But nowadays, our sports contaminated with embrarrasing incidents such as corruption, drugs and so on.

One night, I was watching news when I heard the word 'sanction'. It was mentioned as the most popular term among sports association recently. Why? Because everybody who want to organize a sports event, he or she must seek the SANCTION from the authorised sports association. The newest case involving a golf competition.

Why this is considered as a serious issue? When I was in form 5, me and my friends planned to organize a soccer tournament, and we also had a very ambitious plan: to make it look very semblance with the English Premier League. Means, it was a whole-year league. But first, we have to seek, again, SANCTION from sports warden. After a little bit of deception, we finally got the permission. Later, the warden knew the real thing (we actually told him that it was a short-course league, not a whole-year league), we threatened badly. But who really care? We just went on, furtively. We had done this many times, including watching football telecast in past midnight and going out hostel for Roti Canai.

Twice, I wonder, why this SANCTION issue, is a big issue? Because the sanction itself represent the power of an association. Besides burden others (organizing a competition with a hugh bunch of letters is a mess work), it also shows the arrogant in sports association. For sure, the associations in Malaysia still small compared to world level organisation such as FIFA, BWF and so on. There is nothing to pride of.

A part of the sanction issue, there is also the corruption issue. If in the past days, the nation stunned by the news of corruption took place among football players including the PDRM team (what a shame!), then the hockey team come to continue the legacy. Yeah, I know those player desparate to get money. Our sports association, in addition to their arrogance, are also so stingy the players could not be paid. But the players also have their part of stupidity. If you know the corruption is not a good option, why not endeavor in other thing. For me, selling "Air Jambu Batu" is a very good idea, right?

I don't want to disparage our sportsmen and sportwomen, but this is the reality. If they wonder why people not so supportive towards them, then they should know the answer.

Haha, there are more actions out of pitch then inside it.
